SUMMARY:Wilde Without the Boy
DESCRIPTION:DISCOUNT AVAILABLE – ENTER QUEEN70 at CHECKOUT\nAuthor\, playwright and poet Oscar Wilde was a famous literary figure in late Victorian England. Known for the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray and his many plays\, including Lady Windermere’s Fan\, A Woman of No Importance\, An Ideal Husband and The Importance of Being Earnest\, his exceptional talent was sadly overshadowed after his affair with a young man led to his arrest on charges of “gross indecency” in 1895. He was imprisoned and sentenced to two years hard labour and sadly died in poverty shortly after his release at 46.\nWilde Without the Boy is Gareth Armstrong’s dramatisation of De Profundis\, the searingly passionate letter Oscar Wilde wrote to his lover\, Lord Alfred Douglas\, from his Reading gaol cell just before his release. Wilde Without the Boy is a window into the bruised – but still radiant – soul of one of the most iconic writers of his age. The play also includes Wilde’s haunting poem\, The Ballad of Reading Gaol which narrates the execution of a fellow prisoner and voices Wilde’s thoughts on the injustice of the prison system of the time and the need for reform. \nGerard Logan trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art\, where he won the Bancroft Gold Medal. His impressive career includes leading roles in TV\, film and radio. He has appeared many times in classical and contemporary theatre roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company\, where he received an Olivier Award nomination. His portrayal of the troubled and tortured Wilde has earned him acclaim worldwide. \nAN EVENING OF EXCEPTIONAL THEATRE – NOT TO BE MISSED! \n“The most moving play about Oscar Wilde I’ve ever seen”\n– Gyles Brandreth – The Mail on Sunday \nSorry\, your browser doesn't support embedded videos.

SUMMARY:Comedy Club 4 Kids
DESCRIPTION:DISCOUNT AVAILABLE – ENTER QUEEN70 at CHECKOUT\nSince 2005\, the Comedy Club 4 Kids has been getting the best stand-ups\, sketch acts and cabaret stars from the international circuit to do their thing for an audience of children (aged 6+) and their families… but without the rude bits! Over a decade later\, the company has expanded from one London residency to being countrywide\, running shows and workshops all over the UK from Peebles to Portsmouth\, even producing a book on how to write and perform stand-up\, and hosting our own Radio Nonsense podcast to bring the sillies to families all over the world. The show is family friendly\, but without any patronising idiocy. In fact\, it’s just like a normal comedy club\, but it’s on in the day\, kids are allowed in\, and thus there is a higher than usual chance of the entire audience claiming to be called Bob. \nSuitable for ages 6+. Adults to sit with children in their party (and help explain anything they get stuck on). Group bookings to contain at least one adult for every three kids. \n“A highlight for children in recent years\, giving them a taste of some of the biggest names in comedy… with the fun\, rowdy feel of a real comedy club”\n– THE GUARDIAN \n“The ethos is just right”\n– THE DAILY TELEGRAPH \n“Comedy Club 4 Kids has stand-up sets from grown-up\, high-quality acts who perform their usual sets\, just without the swearing or rude bits.”\n– THE INDEPENDENT \n“Absolutely hilarious.”\n– THE YORKSHIRE TIMES

SUMMARY:Andy Parsons
DESCRIPTION:20% DISCOUNT AVAILABLE ON THIS EVENT – USE CODE QUEEN70 AT CHECKOUT.\nWinner Silver Dolphin Cannes Media Awards 2019 / Winner Best Film EVCOM Awards 2019 / Time Out Award Winner / New Zealand International Comedy Award Winner / Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival Award Winner \nAndy is a multi-award winning comedian who started his career writing for Weekending and Smith and Jones\, and went on to become one of the main writers on the ground-breaking Spitting Image satirical puppet show. As well as being a regular on Mock The Week for ten years\, Andy has performed on numerous radio and TV shows including Live at the Apollo\, QI\, Saturday Live\, The Stand Up Show\, The Comedy Store\, The PMQ Show\, Scrooby Trevithick\, and Parsons and Naylor’s Pull-Out Sections. \nTo date he has done six sell-out national tours and released four DVDs – Britain’s Got Idiots\, Gruntled\, Slacktivist and Live And Unleashed – But Naturally Cautious\, as well as releasing a podcast Slacktivist Action Group\, recorded monthly at the Soho Theatre. He has also appeared on Question Time\, The Daily Politics\, This Week and Newsnight\, and writes columns for The Independent. \n\nBringing his latest show to Grassington Andy says” I was in the middle of a UK Tour when theatres had to close due to lockdown. It will turn out to be the longest Tour ever\, taking 3 years to complete\, & as the tour has gone on there’s been less and less healing and more and more of the opposite. Admittedly\, I could have changed the title but it still seems strangely appropriate – and some of the gigs have been rescheduled so it would prove confusing to existing ticket-holders if the ticket said “HEALING THE NATION” but the show was now called “MY LIFE IN BALLET”. So we have the serially rewritten HEALING THE NATION TOUR 2019/2020 now EXTENDED INTO 2021/2022 due to POPULAR DEMAND but also mainly lack of OPEN THEATRES. And with NEGATIVE POWERS OF HEALING.\nYet this latest version of the show is my favourite so far.” \n\n‘Laugh out loud funny…manages to be utterly likeable and very funny while being Mr. Angry at the state of the world’- The Sunday Telegraph \n‘Terrific satirical stand-up’-The Independent on Sunday \n‘What he lacks in hair\, Parsons more than makes up for in originality’ –The Telegraph \n‘Perfectly calibrated… the King of Political Comedy’ – The Guardian \n‘Andy Parsons’ lethal mixture of anger and ridicule leaves the Big Society in rubble’ – The Times \n‘Hysterical live show. Andy Parsons is on fire’ – The Mirror \n‘Inch-perfect comedy. With certain stand-ups\, you can tell within seconds that they’re going to have the audience sitting up\, purring in the palm of their hand. It is like this with the obscenely gifted Andy Parsons. Brilliantly lateral subversive observations on every topic of the day’  ***** – The List\n \n\n
